Trip to Siddhivinayak Temple

Today morning I had a chance to offer my prayers at the celebrity temple of shri siddivinayak temple at prabhadevi, Mumbai. Though I managed to leave my residence just as the day dawned, but I was surprised to encounter the Mumbai-traffic at this hour near Dadar Bridge. The taxi charged fairly via meter and dropped me right outside the temple. As I was stepping in there were multiple shops for Prasad right outside the temple premises. One of the boys hushed me to take Prasad from his shop. There were multiple plastic baskets each containing a coconut, a small red decorative chunari, a garland, few loose flowers and hardly few pieces of sweet. My atheist and practical mind immediately rebelled for paying a substantial amount for the above arrangement. Moreover entering empty handed never seemed proper option even in the eyes of fellow devotees or even God. Hence I ran my calculations and bought half kilos of motichoor-ladoos (the favorite sweet of Lord Ganeesha and my son too) in pr...

Rajghat varanasi

An unusual morning at Rajghat. Today morning when i woke up for my walk, I decided to head straight to the bank of Ganga. Dressed in night-suit, I took my camera and walked outside the Krishnamurti Foundation. When I reached Ganga-ghat I saw what could be the typical ‘rural-bustle’ of a village on river bank. Females were carrying baskets (probably full of fishes) on their head and getting into heated discussions on family matters. There were row of boats on river bank, with people getting on with their morning chores. The temple besides the ghat had people sitting in verandah. Few healthy young males were busy in ’muscle-building’ exercises. An old man was dictating a young one on the importance of joint family. Three young boys were standing together and chatting on phone, one of them enquiring about his girl friend in Lucknow. Two young girls were exercising under the supervision of a coach. Few people sitting on the staircase of temple were immersed in the...

My past life regression.

Hopping into past me (unbelievable journey) I feel really fortunate to            attend the session of (PLR) past life regression therapy amongst the beautiful hills of Mukteshwar. Strange are the ways in which we connect to people and places in our life.  But my session took me to my other life too, connecting me to my other self and disintegrating my concepts of space and time. I was slightly skeptical at the   beginning of my session whether I would really experience anything. But I was wrong. I immediately connected to my facilitator Swati and shared many of my life's incidences in brief before starting the session. She asked me to close my eyes and think about some specific incidence, when she started inducing me. I scanned my life from before backward. I could see some major incidences of my life as my conflicts with my mother in law, the death of my grandma etc.  That was when Swati asked me to put everything...

God's own country-kerala

I was just waiting for the day to dawn, when I took my purse and cameraand headed for my favourite morning walk.. The morning seemed brighter with the genuine smile of the gatekeeper, whom I enthusiastically wished ‘good morning’. Not many people must be doing that I suppose, as he seemed to be really pleased at it. The gentleman sitting on the reception suggested me to move out of the resort, take right and visit a church nearby as it was Sunday. As soon as I stepped on the road outside, I was amazed at the surrounding greenary, consisting mainly of coconut and banana trees. The morning seemed alive with the voice of cuckoos and roosters. Equally fascinating was the network of small canals originating from the vast Vembanad lake and criss-crossing the small houses of the village. The icing on the cake were ‘canopy-boats’ parked in the canals, as we usually witness the vehicles parked on th roads in cities. All in all Kumarakaon, a small village in Kerala (near cochin) has...

“The visit of a four year old to nainital zoo”

Today I fulfilled my long awaited desire of visiting a zoo with my four yearold child. It happened in the beautiful ambience of Nainital. Visiting a place like Nainital always works wonders on me. The thing that scores best in this place is the’lovely misty weather’. I was really apprehensive when I had checked the weather forecast before reaching here. It predicted all rainy days , which I felt would spoil my trip. But it turned otherwise. In the past three days , the weather has been really unpredictable , but pleasant. I am sure ,sitting among the floating clouds can really soothe anyone,s psyche. Today morning it rained heavily for many hours. I was not sure whether we would be really able to execute our plan of visiting the Nainital zoo. When my son Shreesh woke up, the heavy downpours had turned into drizzles. We got ready, packed our bags and started the uphill task of climbing almost hundred stairs near our home-stay. After every eight to ten stairs, we used to pa...

In the lap of nature.

It was a fine refreshing morning in the lap of nature with clouds floating over the mountains in front of our cottage. The Kosi River flowing at the foothills made the most melodious song of nature. That’s one of the normal days at Corbett hideaway, near Ramnagar. We stayed in the resort in last week of August 2013. This was our first visit to Jim Corbett national park and we luckily got to stay in one of the finest resorts, that too in a river front- cottage which proved to be the icing-on-cake. It is a wonderfully managed resort with extremely courteous staff and one of the finest chefs. One fine morning my husband literally got into the kitchen to learn the famous’poha’-a north Indian breakfast from the chef. We enjoyed the most delicious meals during our stay. The Corbett national park was closed but we never missed it due to the luxurious stay in the lush green resort. We certainly had an elephant ride one day and a visit to nearby gharjia temple, situated in the middle of Kos...

Letting Go...

She just  couldn't  hold her tears back. She had thought about it million of times in past twenty four hours. Now she was too exhausted and drained. They were ‘letting go’ her best friend. This was what he had mentioned in his medical forms. If he failed to recover from the ventilator after a month, they should wean him off the machine. She thought it had been easy for him. He was not present to bear it all but it had been really tough on her. She had been coming here every single day. She had been sitting by his side, reading him newspaper and stories, sharing their photo albums, talking about their plans to settle down, praying and finally crying, seeing no signs of any activity. The day had finally come. There were only four people in the room- his parents, sister and herself. She stood in the corner while his parents stood by his side. There was palpable sadness in the room. The doctor said, “ I am going to speak aloud the procedure. Even if you all think you are pre...
