Trip to Siddhivinayak Temple

Today morning I had a chance to offer my prayers at the celebrity temple of shri siddivinayak temple at prabhadevi, Mumbai. Though I managed to leave my residence just as the day dawned, but I was surprised to encounter the Mumbai-traffic at this hour near Dadar Bridge. The taxi charged fairly via meter and dropped me right outside the temple.
As I was stepping in there were multiple shops for Prasad right outside the temple premises. One of the boys hushed me to take Prasad from his shop. There were multiple plastic baskets each containing a coconut, a small red decorative chunari, a garland, few loose flowers and hardly few pieces of sweet. My atheist and practical mind immediately rebelled for paying a substantial amount for the above arrangement. Moreover entering empty handed never seemed proper option even in the eyes of fellow devotees or even God. Hence I ran my calculations and bought half kilos of motichoor-ladoos (the favorite sweet of Lord Ganeesha and my son too) in price costing less than that plastic basket. Then I compulsively bought some flowers. Happy with my shopping I proceeded inside the temple.
The temple has been done in white marble stone with beautiful golden carvings on the roof and side walls. Inside the shrine there is a beautiful idol of Lord Ganeesha in gold-color metal. Luckily there wasn’t a long queue for the ‘darshan’. Many people were sitting on the stairs in front of the shrine. A middle aged man was fiddling with his phone, looking at the God in middle. Few people were sitting in meditative posture contemplating within. A young couple was busy chatting, probably on the safest place in neighborhood. A young man was diligently doing his job standing on a bench in front of shrine and asking people to move on. I also sat on the stairs sometime trying to imbibe the ambience.

Finally when I got ready to leave I saw an interesting sight on one side. There were two metal statues of rat of moderate sizes kept on stands. I saw people whispering something in the ears of those rats. I couldn’t resist my smile as I understood that people were asking their wishes to be fulfilled via those rats. It made an amusing sight .i even confirmed my thesis from a lady who started smiling as she explained the concept to me. Finally I clicked some photos for my blog and happily returned home with some interesting moments with Lord Ganeesha.

  1. You do not have an atheist mind...at the most you might be agnostic during some passing moments; otherwise, you have a deep faith in life, which is the actual implication of being a theist.

Mystic Mechanic

Lost in woods      She looked here and there helplessly but no one was around. In hills it is difficult to get help. The local population is very less, that too distributed sparsely across various villages. She had no idea where she was. She had left Nainital at four in the evening and she was trying to make it to Ramnagar that same evening. She had a quarterly meet of her company at a resort in Ramnagar, famous for its Jim Corbett National Park . Now there were many beautiful resorts in Ramnagar one after the other, where tourists flocked for their wild-life adventures. These resorts on the bank of the river Kosi made a perfect destination for weddings and conference for corporate. Everything was going fine when on third day of her conference she decided to break loose and visit her aunt in Nainital. Her aunt had insisted that she stay overnight as it was not safe to drive in hills in evening. But the road was so good and drive so scenic she ignored all...

Meeting the philosopher..

This was her first job and she had come with her uncle to see the college. Her uncle also happened to teach in the same college and this had put her quite in ease. She knew she had a support to fall back on. She was quite terrified to be in a campus where all the students were from very affluent families. This was an engineering college in national capital region which ran primarily on capitation fee. Hence the students who could manage to take admission in this college were born to rich or super-rich parents. We call it ‘ovarian –lottery’. She was wearing a maroon cotton suit, dupatta taken like a shawl, which made her look ‘desi’ yet elegant. She was quite unsure how she was going to tackle the ‘Porsche ambience ‘of the college. But she was determined to make it. After taking a round of the college her uncle left her at her department. There were three people in the department. Two middle-aged men who were supposedly the professors and a young man, whom she guessed to ...

Lost kiss.

Most missed moment of my life (a secret love story) She was delighted        to accompany her rich aunt back to Delhi. Ever since she was young she had seen her aunt as the center of attraction in all the weddings and functions of her house. Today her fancy of visiting her aunt’s place would be fulfilled. Though aunt had grown old, but her expensive jeweler and clothes still flaunted her lavish lifestyle. They finally reached       Delhi and entered the beautiful apartment-complex in one of the porsche areas of city. As soon as she entered the artistically designed modern complex she couldn’t believe her eyes. Well laid parks, people having carefree walks and children having all the fun in the world, made it the perfect place in the world. She was imbibing everything         with awe and admiration when suddenly her heart missed a beat. Was he really there in the lobby? At first she thought she had been mis...
