It was a
fine refreshing morning in the lap of nature with clouds floating over the
mountains in front of our cottage. The Kosi River flowing at the foothills made
the most melodious song of nature. That’s one of the normal days at Corbett
hideaway, near Ramnagar. We stayed in the resort in last week of August 2013.
This was our
first visit to Jim Corbett national park and we luckily got to stay in one of
the finest resorts, that too in a river front- cottage which proved to be the
icing-on-cake. It is a wonderfully managed resort with extremely courteous
staff and one of the finest chefs. One fine morning my husband literally got
into the kitchen to learn the famous’poha’-a north Indian breakfast from the
chef. We enjoyed the most delicious meals during our stay. The Corbett national
park was closed but we never missed it due to the luxurious stay in the lush
green resort. We certainly had an elephant ride one day and a visit to nearby
gharjia temple, situated in the middle of Kosi River.
I went to a
small bridge nearby on my morning walks which offered breathtaking views of
jungles and the river. Later I came to know that tigers had been spotted at the
same place many times. My four year old son had an excellent time in the pool
on ‘dry days’. Rest of the days we enjoyed rains from our living room. Best
place to relax in the lap of nature and ‘be yourself’.
